The varsity softball team picked up a pair of wins against Mason County Central on Thursday.
Ashlyn Lundquist got the win in the first game, allowing two earned runs on three hits and one walk while striking out eight through four innings. Brooklyn Hoffert pitched the final three innings after Lundquist fell to an injury. Offensively, Lundquist recorded two hits and two RBIs while Layke Sims had a hit and RBI. Brooklyn Hoffert and Emma Maury had one hit apiece.
Brooklyn Hoffert got the win in game two, allowing four earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three through five innings. Lundquist came back to pitch the last two innings. Sims led at the plate with a home run, double and three RBI’s. Lundquist homered too and drove in two runs. Maury added two hits and Stella Balcom had a hit and RBI. Mady Smith added a hit too for the Vikings.
Cadillac’s JV team traveled to Big Rapids where they picked up two wins. The Vikings beat the Cardinals 8-2 in game one.
Alazeah Reed got the win in the opener, she allowed one earned run on eight hits and one walk while striking out 11. Maddy Stange led the way at the plate with two hits and two RBI’s while Kaylee Combs-Bugard had three hits. Reed added a hit and drove in a run while Lorna Little had two hits.
Reed got the win in game two, as well. The Vikings outscored Big Rapids 21-16. Stephanie Metzger had five hits and six RBI’s, Stange four hits and three RBI’s, Reed four hits and two RBI’s, and Combs-Bugard had five hits and two RBI’s. Emma Goslyn and Haley Miller each had three hits and one RBI while Brianna Nicholas had a hit and two RBI’s. Cali Quartz and Little had one hit apiece.
The JV team hosts an invite on Saturday starting at 10:00am and both teams play Alpena next Tuesday.
