It’s one and done from here on out.. and the varsity boys soccer team isn’t ready to be done just yet. The Vikings faced off with Gaylord in the Division 2 District semi-final game at CASA Fields Tuesday night. While the Blue Devils jumped out to a quick lead, the Vikings settled in and took control when it mattered, beating Gaylord 2-1 to advance to the District Finals this Saturday.
Gaylord took a 1-0 lead just four minutes into the game and held that lead through halftime. The Vikings stepped it up in the second half and tied the game with a goal by Bryan Farley, assisted by Ben Kohler at the ten minute mark of the second half. Sophomore Alex King then scored the game winner for Cadillac with eight minutes remaining in the game. Brady McLaurin recorded the assist. Elliot Lavigne made 11 saves in goal for Cadillac.
The win allows the Vikings to play this Saturday at Petoskey for a chance at the District trophy. The game will start at 6:00 pm. Tickets must be purchased online, we will share that link tomorrow afternoon. The District champion will then play next Tuesday at Cedar Springs.
