The varsity football team found themselves down early on Friday night against Petoskey but that didn’t last long. Petoskey jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead in the first 15 minutes of the game — after that, the Vikings took control of the game and came out on top 27-14.
Collin Johnston scored first for Cadillac on a 74 yard run and PAT by Colin Hess made it 14-7. Aden Gurden then tied the game on a one yard QB sneak just before halftime.
Noah Cochrane gave Cadillac the lead on a six yard run and PAT by Hess with 2:26 left on the clock. Gurden added one more TD on a 17 yard run with less than a minute remaining in the game.
Johnston led the Vikings offensively with 71 yards rushing and a touchdown while Carter Harsh ran for 65 yards. Gurden recorded 55 yards and two touchdowns while Cochrane added 44 yards and a TD.
Defensively, Johnston and Dan Gray each recorded 11 tackles apiece. Chris Reinhold, Luke Enyeart, and Cochrane each had seven tackles while Derek Rood added six.
Cadillac (3-1) is at Traverse City West on Friday, kick-off is at 7:00. TC West is limiting spectators to four guests per athlete — there will not be general admission tickets available this week.
