None of the games came easy for them last week, but each day they found a way to win and were able to hoist the District trophy on Friday in front of their home crowd. The girls basketball team defeated Big Rapids 35-31 to advance to Regional Semi-Finals on Tuesday.
The start to Friday’s game was much like the previous two games — Cadillac struggled to score. Big Rapids held a 7-4 lead after the first quarter before Cadillac found their rhythm with Molly Anderson and Livi Meyer each hitting a three pointer to get the Vikings back in it — the Vikings took the lead by one going into halftime. They held onto that one point lead at the end of three, 27-26. Free throws down the stretch by Makenna Bryant kept the game just out of reach for Big Rapids.
Anderson finished the game with 12 points while Meyer scored eight.
The Regional Semi-Final game is a rematch from last year as Cadillac plays Standish-Sterling at Chippewa Hills High School on Tuesday. The Panthers (19-3) beat Clare on Friday 68-49. The game starts at 7:00 — tickets are $6.00 per person.
