It was a total team effort on Monday as the varsity girls basketball team handed Benzie Central a 22 point loss. The Vikings improve to 9-0 with the 55-33 victory at home. Cadillac jumped out to a quick lead, holding Benzie to just three points in the first quarter while scoring 15 themselves. The Vikings were up 22-11 at half and 39-22 going into the fourth quarter.
Molly Anderson led Cadillac with 17 points while Makenna Bryant added 13. Emma McTaggart also scored nine for the Vikings while Olivia Meyer and Joslyn Seeley each added seven points and Anna Whipple pulled down seven boards.
Cadillac JV also won big, outscoring Benzie 67-26. Kendall Schopieray led all scorers with 25 points and Ashlyn Lundquist scored 13. The freshman team squeaked out a close one to complete the sweep, 29-27. Alezeah Reed paced the Vikings with nine points while Frannie Kiomento scored eight. The freshman team plays at home on Thursday in the Performance Gym against Kalkaska, 5:30 tip-off.
The JV and Varsity teams host Gaylord on Friday in our annual Salute to Service game. All active and retired Servicemen and Women are invited to the game and will receive free admission. There will be raffle baskets and other prizes available — all proceeds from the night will benefit the Cadillac Veteran’s Park and Vets Serving Vets.
*The Cadillac Hockey team is also hosting a Salute to Service game this Wednesday! They will also be offering free admission — and ask for non-perishable food items and toiletries for the Cadillac Vets Serving Vets program. They play Big Rapids, 7:00pm at The Wex.
