Sharp shooting in the first half and solid defense in the second half helped the varsity girls basketball team beat Petoskey on Thursday night, 49-23. The Vikings head into Christmas break 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the conference.
Makenna Bryant came out firing for Cadillac in the first quarter, hitting 4 three pointers in the first six minutes of the game. The Viking held an 18-9 lead after the first quarter and 25-16 at halftime. Their defense kicked in in the second half, holding Petoskey scoreless all of the third quarter and half of the fourth. Cadillac outscored the Northmen 16-0 in the third and extended it to 49-23 by the end of the night.
Bryant led Cadillac with 21 points, including six 3-pointers; Molly Anderson scored 20.
Cadillac won a close JV game, 28-24. Kendall Schopieray paced the Vikings with 18 points. The freshman team completed the sweep of the Northmen with a 31-22 win. Frannie Kiomento scored 11 points, Madalie Dickerson scored nine, and Harmony Donzell added seven.
The Vikings are off until January 7, 2020 — they will host Kingsley’s JV and Varsity teams.
