They needed all 32 minutes plus some to pull out the win over Traverse City Central but they got it done. The varsity boys basketball team won a thriller in overtime, beating the Trojans 47-41 on Tuesday night.
Traverse City jumped out to a quick 9-0 lead forcing the Vikings to call an early timeout to regroup. They slowly started to settle in but still went into halftime down 25-14. They struggled to get much closer in the third but two quick layups by the Vikings in the final seconds of the third cut the deficit to 5 going into the fourth quarter. With 20 seconds left and down by two, Tipp Baker hit the game-tying shot to send it to overtime. The Vikings held the Trojans scoreless in OT and came out victorious, 47-41.
Cole Jenema and Tipp Baker each scored 13 for Cadillac while Wyatt Vinson added nine points and David Johns pulled down 10 boards. The Vikings remain undefeated at 3-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
Cadillac won the JV game 53-21. Jaden Montague led the Vikings with 11 points, Caden Windover and Connor McGowan each scored ten. The freshman team completed the sweep with a two point victory, 39-37. Davin Brown scored 11 for Cadillac while Derek Rood scored 8 and Keenan Marr scored 7.
The Vikings will now have a three week break over the holidays and resume playing on January 6 at Big Rapids.
