With two key starters out with injuries, the Cadillac varsity boys basketball team needed other players to step up — and they did just that. The Vikings beat Gaylord 68-56 in their first conference game of the season.
Cadillac held just a two point lead after the first quarter but extended it to five at halftime, 26-21. The Vikings hit 11 shots from beyond the arc but the Blue Devils countered with nine of their own. Cadillac went on a 13-0 run in the third quarter and held a 46-33 lead going into the fourth.
Levi Klotz led Cadillac with 28 points, including seven 3-pointers. Wyatt Vinson scored 15 points and Cole Jenema added 13 points.
Jaden Montague paced Cadillac’s JV squad with 13 points in their 57-24 win over Gaylord. Jay Gulish scored 11 points.
The Vikings also topped the Blue Devils in the freshman game, 49-24. Davin Brown led Cadillac with 19 points while Jacob LaMonde scored 13 and Keenan Marr added nine.
