The regular season is officially over now for volleyball with Districts starting this week. But the varsity team had to take care of business in one final weekend tournament – and they did it with ease. The Vikings went 5-0 on Saturday to claim first place at the Central Montcalm Invitational.
Cadillac beat Hesperia in the first match before taking it to Big Rapids and Morley Stanwood in pool play. The Vikings played Grant in the semi-finals, beating them 25-15, 25-13 and then beating Cedar Springs 25-20, 25-11 in the finals to take home the Gold.
Macy Brown recorded 57 kills on the day, 45 digs, five aces, and three blocks. Renee Brines dished out 102 assists, 48 digs, 14 kills, six aces and four blocks while Chloe Comstock had 37 digs, 23 kills, seven aces and four blocks. Maggie Neiss had 15 kills, 11 aces, 11 digs and nine blocks while Staci Beydoun added 12 digs, four kills and four blocks. Brooke Lorenz had 16 digs and four aces while Makenna Bryant added 36 digs and an ace. Joslyn Seeley had eight digs and three kills while Marne Fox had six digs and two aces. Mady Smith added three digs.
*Macy Brown currently has 749 kills this year, that is a new school record for kills in a season. Congratulations, Macy!
The Vikings play in Big Rapids on Wednesday for district semi-finals. They will play at 7:00 pm against the winner of today’s match between Ludington and Big Rapids. The district final game will be on Thursday, also in Big Rapids at 6:00 pm.
