The rain and wind didn’t stop the community from coming out to cheer on the varsity football team Friday. Despite the poor weather conditions, the Vikings put together a strong effort on Homecoming night to beat Lake Odessa Lakewood 26-6.
Cadillac started off the scoring in the second quarter with a one yard TD run by Tipp Baker. Four minutes later Baker added another touchdown before completing the touchdown trifecta all before halftime.
Just seconds into the second half, quarterback Aden Gurden connected with Alec Barczewski for a 64 yard touchdown pass to give Cadillac a 26-0 lead. Lakewood finally got on the board in the final minutes of the game.
Baker led the Vikings with 72 yards rushing on seven carries while Collin Johnston had 69 yards on eight carries. Carter Harsh added 58 yards on three carries.
Defensively, Luke Enyeart paced the Vikings with 10 tackles while Baker had eight tackles and an interception. Julian LaMonde and Barczewski had five tackles apiece.
Cadillac travels to Gaylord on Friday.
