Girls Varsity Tennis · Tennis Finishes 8th at State Finals


The girls tennis team came ready to play over the weekend at the Division 3 State Finals. The team scored 11 points on the day and finished 8th overall – that’s their best finish in more than 20 years!

#1 Singles – Frida Dahlstrand (bye first round) beat Parma Western 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 before falling to Cranbrook 6-0, 6-0 in the quarterfinals.
#2 Singles – Alana Hill (bye first round) lost to the #5 seed from Cranbrook 6-0, 6-2 in the second round.
#3 Singles – Oakley
 Mickelson (bye first round) beat Chelsea 6-3, 6-3 in the second round before falling to the #2 seed from Cranbrook 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.
#4 Singles – Olivia Outman beat Stevensville-Lakeshore 6-3, 6-3 in the first round then fell to the #1 seed from Cranbrook 6-2, 6-0.

#1 Doubles – Macy Brown/ Sarah Brackenrich (bye first round) beat the #5 seed from Forest Hills Eastern 6-2, 6-1 and then upset the #4 seed from Allegan 7-6(5), 6-2 in the quarterfinals. They continued playing Saturday in the semi-finals where they lost to #1 seed Country Day 6-1, 6-3.
#2 Doubles – Staci Beydoun/Lexi Johnson beat Dearborn Divine Child 6-1, 6-1 in the first round before falling to #3 seed Allegan 6-2, 6-0.
#3 Doubles – Anesa Liptak/Chloe Comstock (bye first round) lost to Grand Rapids Catholic 6-2, 6-3 in the second round.
#4 Doubles – 
Emily Sims/Ella Darrow (bye first round) beat Yale 6-4, 6-2 then fell to the #2 seed from Chelsea 6-4, 6-1.

Out of 23 teams competing in the Division 3 State Finals, Cadillac scored the third most points among public schools – all other teams are private schools, including Detroit Country Day who won their fourth straight title.

The Vikings graduate four seniors – Frida Dahlstrand (exchange student), Olivia Outman, Sarah Brackenrich, and Lexi Johnson. Congratulations on a great season!
