Cadillac High School had eight student-athletes enter their applications into the 2018-19 MHSAA Scholar-Athlete Award contest sponsored by Farm Bureau Insurance. CHS applicants included: Katie Bartman, Melodee Eastman, Sanna Meyjes, Charlie Runstrom, Ethan Pritchard, Alex Netzley, Spencer Richardson, and Brian Geiger (not pictured).
To be eligible for the award, students must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 and have earned a varsity letter in at least one MHSAA sponsored sport. Students also were asked to respond to a series of short essay questions, submit two letters of recommendation and a 500-word essay on the importance of sportsmanship in educational athletics.
There were 1,645 applications sent in this year. The applications were judged by a 65-member committee of school coaches, counselors, faculty members, administrators and board members from MHSAA member schools. Cadillac’s Alex Netzley was one of 120 finalists for the Award. The top 32 students were awarded scholarships.
Congratulations to all eight of our student-athletes that met the requirements for the award!
