It was the last day of April but you couldn’t tell by looking at the track athletes at Veteran’s Memorial Stadium on Tuesday. They were bundled in winter coats, hats and gloves right up until their event started. Though the chilly April weather didn’t slow the girls’ team as they went on to beat Gaylord 115-41 in the BNC dual.
Brooke Kochanny swept discus and the shot put. Cassidy Baker won high jump while Brooke Lorenz claimed pole vault and Lindsey Tonello took first in long jump.
In running events, Chloie Musta won both the 200m dash and 400 dash. Kendall Schopieray won the 800 and 1600m runs while Maggie Neiss won the 3200. Peace Odiase won the 100m hurdles. In relays, Cadillac won the 3200 (Musta, Gabrielle Metzger, Renee Brines, Schopieray). The Vikings also took first in the 1600 relay (Schopieray, Tonello, Madeleine Guernsey, Musta) and the 400 relay (Odiase, Karly Castle, Heather Eller, Tonello).
The boys did not have as much success, losing to Gaylord 59.5 – 102.5. Zach Elmore won pole vault for Cadillac while Matt Brines won the 1600 run and Jared Anderson won the 3200.
Cadillac runs at the Shepherd Invite on Friday.
