A month after their first day of practice, the varsity baseball team finally got to play a game. The Vikings opened the season with a split on the road at Reed City Tuesday.

The Coyotes won the first game 5-3. Cale Mickelson took the loss on the mound for Cadillac. He struck out seven batters. At the plate, Jacob Roberts had three hits including a home run. Alex Netzley and Mickelson each had one hit.

The Vikings came out on top of game two, 7-5. Braedan Lundquist got the win on the mound, striking out five. Troy Miller got the save. Lundquist hit a double and a homerun in game two along with four RBI’s. Isaac Heyd and Miller each had two hits while Netzley had one hit.

Cadillac travels to Manistee on Thursday and Benzie on Friday.
