Congratulations to our girls basketball team for winning the Regional trophy on Wednesday! The Vikings beat Menominee 55-51 to claim their second ever Regional Title. The win sends Cadillac to the State Quarterfinals next Tuesday at Mt. Pleasant. The Vikings take on Freeland — a rematch of their quarterfinal game two years ago.
The two teams traded baskets all night long. Menominee led by five at one point in the second half before Cadillac rallied back and eventually took a six point lead in the fourth quarter off of back to back three’s from Makenna Bryant and Molly Anderson. Though it didn’t last long. Just two minutes later the Maroons were back up by one. That’s when Anderson hit a three from deep beyond the arc to put Cadillac up two with 44 seconds left. Macy Brown sealed the deal, hitting two free throws with 13 seconds remaining in the game.
Bryant led Cadillac with 23 points while Anderson added 19.
Again, the Vikings play next Tuesday at Mt. Pleasant High School vs. Freeland. Tip-off is at 7:00. The winner advances to the State Semi-Final game at Calvin College next Friday.
