The varsity hockey team is struggling to find consistency. Just days after scoring a big win over TC West, the Vikings dropped back to back losses to Gaylord and Mt Pleasant.
The Vikings faced off with Gaylord on Friday, falling 7-2 to the Blue Devils. Alex Lietaert scored the first goal for Cadillac off an assist from Allan Scheurer. Brian Geiger scored the other goal of the game in the third period but Gaylord proved to be too much for the Vikings.
On Saturday, Mt Pleasant came to town. It was a hard-fought, back and forth game, but the Oilers came out on top 4-3. Scheurer scored Cadillac’s first goal, unassisted, in the first period. Fisher Moore followed up with a goal of his own a few minutes later but the Oilers countered back to tie at 2-2. Jack Schmittdiel scored the Vikings third and final goal before Mt Pleasant scored twice more for the win.
Seth VanNewkirk made 33 of 37 stops on goal.
Cadillac hosts Traverse City Central on Wednesday.
