They were down two players due to injury.. and foul trouble didn’t help. The varsity girls basketball team suffered its first loss of the season to Essexville-Garber on Friday. The Vikings and Dukes kept it close all game until the end when Garber pulled out a 59-50 victory.

Garber led 12-9 after the first quarter but Cadillac rallied back to take a one point lead going into halftime. Three players found themselves in foul trouble late in the game but the Viking still managed to tie it up at 39 each going into the fourth quarter. Garber took control from there to pull out the nine point victory.

Livi Meyer led Cadillac with 16 points, Macy Brown added 14, and Makenna Bryant 11.

The Vikings won the JV game 32-28. Emma McTaggart paced Cadillac with 14 points while Chesni Birgy scored 10.

Cadillac (4-1) travels to Gaylord on Thursday.
