Both the 7th and 8th grade football teams beat Petoskey on the road Wednesday. Cadillac’s 8th grade team won 36-6. It was scoreless going into halftime before the Vikings exploded in the second half.
Offensively, the Vikings were led by Felton Knight with 74 yards and a touchdown. Kaleb McKinley had 30 yards and a touchdown, while Teegan Baker had 28 yards, a touchdown, and a conversion run. Koby Kehl added 34 yards and a 2 point conversion. Kaiden Cherven had 33 yards on the ground, while Kody Brown and Brayden Logan each caught a conversion pass. McKinley was 2-2 passing for 26 yards.
Defensively, the Vikings were paced by Chris Reinhold and Derek Rood, each recorded 6 tackles. Riley Wade had 5 tackles- all for a loss. Knight scored on a fumble recovery, and Jacob LaMonde returned an interception 43 yards for a touchdown. Cherven, Wade, and Peyton Meinhardt all recovered fumbles, and Rood recorded a sack.
Meanwhile, Cadillac’s 7th grade football team beat the Northmen 14-8. Petoskey’s lone touchdown and conversion came early in the first quarter. Cadillac responded on a 36 yard touchdown run by Mitchell House and a conversion run by Miles Hoppe to tie it at 8-8 at the half. The Vikings took the lead in the second half on a 4 yard touchdown pass from Charlie Howell to Conner Vermuelen.
Offensively, the Vikings were paced by Charlie Howell with 129 yards rushing. House added 100 yards on the ground, while Jordan Martin ran for 50 yards. Gabe Cochrane and Vermuelen each caught a pass.
House led the way defensively with 8 tackles and a fumble recovery. Connor Gray and Justin Paskowski added 7 tackles each. Vermuelen, Howell and Cochrane added 6 tackles each.
The Vikings host TC West next Wednesday with 7th grade kicking off at 4:00 and 8th grade at 5:30.
