The Cadillac boys basketball team picked up a huge win Tuesday night against the Petoskey Northmen.
Petoskey entered the game undefeated in the Big North Conference — and honorable mention on the AP poll for Class A boys basketball.
The Vikings came into the game looking for revenge after dropping a 62-52 decision in overtime at Petoskey two weeks ago. Tuesday night, defense was the name of the game for the Vikings, and they executed their game plan well, holding the Northmen to just 38 points.
The Vikings led by four at half, 24-20, and extended the lead to 13 after three, but Petoskey rallied back in the fourth quarter cutting the deficit to just three.
But Cadillac sealed the deal from the free throw line down the stretch, winning 43-38.
Kegan Brooks paced the Vikings with 20 points and Cale Mickelson added eight.
Petoskey remains in first in the BNC with one loss, but Cadillac and TC Central are tied for second at 4-2.
Petoskey won the JV game 38-27. Evan Borr and Logan Wilde each scored ten points.
The Northmen also claimed victory in the freshman game, 66-51. Mike Mollohan scored 11 for Cadillac, Logan Boolman added nine, and Jacques LaMonde scored eight.
The Vikings take on TC Central on Friday. Freshman/JV starts at 5:30, varsity tips off at 7:00. The 2018 Hall of Fame inductees will be honored at halftime of the varsity game — and it is fan appreciation night!
